Leicester Tigers can confirm Danny Wilson will join the club’s coaching team as a part-time consultant for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Wilson was most recently Head Coach at Glasgow Warriors, where he was in the top job for two and a half seasons and led the side to the knockout stages of the URC, and spent two years with the Scottish national team - which included the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and back-to-back Six Nations campaigns.

He has also previously worked as part of coaching teams at Cardiff Blues, where he won the 2018 European Challenge Cup Final and was Head Coach of Wales Under-20s in 2012, who reached the World Cup Final.

Speaking about the addition of Wilson, Leicester Tigers Interim Head Coach Richard Wigglesworth said: “Danny is an experienced coach who will be a great addition to our team and club.”

“His detail on forwards and line outs is something that we are pleased to add to our group for the remainder of the season.”

Wigglesworth added that Wilson’s role would also help strengthen the resources in the Tigers coaching ranks to ensure all levels at the club were being properly resourced following the mid-season departures of Steve Borthwick and Kevin Sinfield.

“We are always looking at ways to strengthen the club and this does that,” said Wigglesworth.

“Adding Danny to the staff is a huge positive in terms of not only what he offers but also in ensuring we are continuing to provide the best coaching we can for all players, as a group and individually, to keep developing players at all levels.”

Danny Wilson commences in his role with Leicester Tigers effective immediately.
