Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby supporters are coming together this week in support of former player Ed Slater in his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
More than 60 fans in total will be taking part in fundraising efforts on Friday, including a team of almost 40 who are cycling from Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester to Mattioli Woods Welford Road ahead of Friday night's Gallagher Premiership fixture in Leicester.
The group is expected to arrive on The Plaza at 5.30pm ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off in The Slater Cup.
In addition to those riding, there will be two dozen volunteers at the ground for Friday's match bucket collecting for MND.
The funds raised from the ride and collection will be split between three MND charities:
- The 4Ed Fund
- The MND Association
- My Name’5 Doddie Foundation
Tigers and Gloucester supporters raised more than £20,000 fans during last season's Slater Cup clashes and, since 2021, MND charities have received almost £30,000 in total.
You can donate to Friday's ride, direct to one of the three charities, here:
Or, on the night, donate by contributing to the bucket collections. Volunteers will be on The Plaza and inside the ground before, during and after the game in all stands at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
