Five Leicester Tigers players – including four still to win a first cap – are included in the England squad ahead of summer Tests against the USA and Canada.
National team head coach Eddie Jones has announced a revised squad today following the conclusion of the domestic season.
Leicester prop Ellis Genge, with 28 caps, is among the most experienced members of the squad and is joined by his uncapped Tigers club colleagues Joe Heyes, Dan Kelly, Freddie Steward and Harry Wells.
All five had been scheduled to start the international fixture against Scotland A on their home turf at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Sunday before that game was cancelled due to Covid-19 positive test within the Scotland squad.
Tigers forward George Martin, who won a first cap during the 2021 Six Nations, is among the players released from the initial training squad.
Head coach Jones said: “This is the third and final phase of our selection. We have a squad here full of talent and potential, with 23 uncapped players who have the chance to make their England debut.
“We’ve had two good weeks working and training hard and now we look forward to seeing how far we can go.”
England’s summer series matches are at Twickenham against USA on Sunday, July 4 (2.00pm) and Canada on Saturday, July 10 (3.00pm). Both matches are live on Channel 4.
