Leicester Tigers retained their European Championship title with an overtime win to secure victory in the final game of the weekend.

Held in Poland, the event was an invitational tournament, held over two days and comprising five different teams from across Europe.

Having claimed victory in the competition's inaugural edition in 2022, expectations were high amongst a group looking to retain their crown.

Many of the players involved in 2022 returned to action here, a trio including Jack Coulson, Laurence Ball and Tom Folwell, with the latter winning his 50th Leicester Tigers cap over the weekend. Jamie Stead, a key part of the last triumph in a player/coach role, was Head Coach of the side this time around.

Saturday's action saw two statement wins, with 13 and 23 points the respective margins of victory.

Sunday opened with a dominant victory over IKS Lavaro before the final showdown, the weekend's top two teams going head to head.

Tigers and IKS Jeźdźcy traded the lead throughout but it was Leicester who came out on top, an overtime winner the most dramatic of finishes.

Captain Folwell celebrated his milestone weekend by being awarded best "Low Point" player of the weekend, while Joe Smith was awarded the tournament's best "High Point" player.

Internally, Laurence Ball was awarded the Leicester Tigers MVP.

Having returned to the UK, Tigers next challenge comes next weekend (November 16 & 17) when they compete in the first-ever WR5s Nationals.

Held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury, Leicester will compete in the Cup competition against five other teams: Help for Heroes, North East Barbarians, Penrith Pumas, Solent Sharks and East Midlands rivals Northampton Saints.
