International round-up | Carnduff captains England U20s to glory

Leicester Tigers were well-represented on the international stage over the weekend.

Read on to see how our players faired, and what’s coming up next.

ENGLAND U20S CLAIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CROWN

Friday night saw back row Finn Carnduff become the first Leicester Tigers player to lift the Junior World Championship title as captain as England U20 defeated France 21-13.

Carnduff has led from the front in his second season in the England set-up, capping off a season which began with a Six Nations win.

Scrum-half Ollie Allan was injured during that campaign, making his run in the nine shirt at this month’s tournament that much more impressive.

Allan’s performance against Ireland in the semi-final was particularly eye-catching, and the senior academy playmaker was pivotal again in the final.

Prop Cam Miell played his part as well, coming on the 73rd minute to help close out the win.

WILL HURD WINS ON FIRST START FOR SCOTLAND

After making his senior debut a fortnight ago, Tigers prop Will Hurd started for Scotland against Chile in Santiago.

Hurd played 56 minutes in the 52-11 win, Scotland’s scrum dominating during his time on the field.

REFFEL AND WALES EDGE QUEENSLAND REDS

Tommy Reffell came on the 45th minute as a much-changed Wales side held on for victory against Queensland Reds.

Reffell claimed a typical turnover and made seven tackles.

MEG JONES ARRIVES IN PARIS AHEAD OF OLYMPICS

Tigers Women’s star Meg Jones will be flying the flag for her club as part of Team GB’s Sevens side.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday, July 28 at 2:30pm with Great Britain taking on Ireland.
