LeoVegas Fans' Favourite: Facundo Gigena

Facundo Gigena admitted it was a bittersweet feeling upon learning he had been voted the LeoVegas Fans' Favourite for his performance in the Gallagher Premiership away game against Sale Sharks in Round 16.

Speaking in the changing room at full-time, Gigena was "grateful" for the votes via the Tigers App but quick to point out the overwhelming feeling among him and team-mate's was disappointment.

"It is very nice to be awarded the Fans' Favourite by the Tigers fans, I'm very grateful to the supporters who voted for me," said Gigena.

"It is a little bit hard to be happy with it too much as we didn't win and we came here to win tonight, we are all unhappy with the result."

The Argentina international, who was playing in just his 17th match for the club, also got over for his first try in Tigers colours and in his typically modest fashion was quick to share in the score with his team-mates.

"It was good to get my first Tigers try ... I didn't have to do too much thanks to the great run by Jordan (Olowofela) and the forward pack helping me get across the try line. I'm very happy to say I have scored a Tigers try now," he said.

Gigena also, unprompted, opened up on the mindset of the squad and his own dedication to returning Tigers to the top of the Premiership pile.

"We aren't a very experienced side but we're all trying our best and giving all we can ... we won't stop doing that, there is still games to come this season and we will be ready for the next one," said Gigena.

"I said earlier this week [on LTTV] that I am enjoying myself in Leicester and as a Tiger, this club is just great and we are going to get back to what we know we can be as Leicester."
