Nick Malouf is to return to Australia after spending the 2017/18 season with Leicester Tigers.
The 25-year-old Malouf has agreed a return to the Australia Sevens set-up after six tries in 21 appearances for the Tigers this season.
Originally a flanker with University of Queensland, Malouf made his Australia Sevens debut in 2012 and established himself in the national squad for the World Series over the next four years as well as playing in the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Tigers head coach Matt O’Connor said: “It is very disappointing to lose Nick. He worked very hard to earn a place here and he demonstrated that he has a big future ahead of him.
“But we understand his reasoning behind returning to Australia and to their Sevens squad, and we wish him well for the future.”
Tigers have already announced the signing of forwards David Denton, Will Spencer and Guy Thompson for 2018/19, plus wing Sam Aspland-Robinson.
The following players have already confirmed moves to new clubs for the 2018/19 season: Ben Betts (Ealing Trailfinders), George McGuigan (Newcastle Falcons), Joe Maksymiw (Connacht), Logovi’i Mulipola (Newcastle Falcons) and Harry Thacker (Bristol).
