Premiership Rugby reveals restart fixtures

Leicester Tigers will resume the Gallagher Premiership season with a trip to Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, August 15 before hosting two home games in five days.

Premiership Rugby Limited have today announced the order of games in the first four rounds after the resumption in the 2019/20 season with Tigers travelling to top-of-the-table Exeter in Steve Borthwick’s opening game as head coach.

Tigers will then host Bath Rugby at Welford Road in the 200th meeting of the old rivals and London Irish in the season’s first midweek round before closing the month with a trip to Gloucester.

Round 14: Saturday, August 15 – Exeter Chiefs v Leicester Tigers

Round 15: Saturday, August 22 – Leicester Tigers v Bath Rugby

Round 16: Wednesday, August 26 – Leicester Tigers v London Irish

Round 17: Sunday, August 30 – Gloucester Rugby v Leicester Tigers

Kick-off times and live TV selections for BT Sport and Channel 5 are still to be confirmed.

Premiership Rugby and its advisors are still to confirm whether the Gallagher Premiership season will resume behind closed doors or if supporters will be admitted, but Tigers look forward to welcoming supporters as soon as government guidance allows.

The season will resume with Harlequins hosting Sale Sharks on Friday, August 14 while the Tigers’ trip to Exeter is among four games on the Saturday, with Bath Rugby, Worcester Warriors and Bristol Bears also on home ground. Northampton Saints host Wasps on the Sunday in the final game of the weekend.

Darren Childs, chief executive at Premiership Rugby, said: “With just over a month to go, we are delighted to be on track to bring rugby back to fans and see our players in competition. I must thank all of our players, clubs, partners, the RFU and RPA who have all supported us on this journey, and we are now cautiously optimistic for a safe return to the season."

Premiership Rugby has also confirmed that the Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final will be staged on Saturday, October 24.
