The first Premiership Women's Rugby fixture at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in 2025 sees Tom Hudson's side take on Sale Sharks Women in the second match of the New Year Double Header.

Tom Hudson's side are searching for a league double over the Sharks after winning in Sale earlier in the campaign which would also be a first-ever home victory in the Premiership.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Head Coach said: "We always enjoy the Double Header matchdays and are confident plenty of fans will stick around to support us in this crucial game."

"Last time we faced them, I spoke about managing emotions and clarity in our execution which is the same message to the side this week. We need to stick to our process and stay focused on continuing to see progress as a group."

Hudson has named an unchanged starting line-up from the last outing - away to Harlequins in Twickenham - while the only change to the bench is the inclusion of Jordan Russell

The visitors are largely unchanged from their last game, a defeat at home to Loughborough Lightning in Round 11, but do welcome back Red Roses forward Morwenna Talling in the back row.

More than a third (38%) of the Sharks' touches this season have been carries, a higher proportion than any other team, but Tigers have demonstrated their turnover work as among the best in the league with an average of 8.2 turnovers per 80 minutes, the second-most in the PWR.

Sale also have the second-most kicks in play at an average of more than 16 per game, leaning towards possession being dominated by Leicester of which Hudson believes puts the pressure on his players to ensure there is "clarity" in their attack.

"We've worked hard in training to match the physicality we know Sale will bring. If we can control possession and keep to our structures, as we did last time out, we're confident we can perform well," added Hudson.

"In every match, we look to attack but when you know you are likely to have more of the ball then clarity in execution becomes even more important."

Start 2025 at home with Tigers Family and friends for the New Year Double Header.

Mattioli Woods Welford Road hosts a Gallagher Premiership game against Exeter Chiefs (3.05pm) before a Premiership Women's Rugby showdown with Sale Sharks Women (5.50pm) next Saturday, January 4.

Be there to cheer on both sides in the first fixture of 2025 as the second half of the campaign officially gets underway!
