Steve Borthwick believes signs of improved cohesion within his squad were on show in the away win over Harlequins.
Speaking after the eight-point, 19-27 victory at Twickenham Stoop, the Leicester Tigers Head Coach said: “There is cohesion growing within our group, it is gradually coming together as this new group play more and more games.”
“It is the first game this season we haven’t had someone making their first appearance of the season.
“But, even then, we had two or three new combinations out there at any time today - we have a lot to learn, a lot to still learn about one another.”
While pleased with the progress, there will be no change to the post-match process at Oval Park following the club’s first win at Twickenham Stoop in five years.
“There is a lot from today that can be better,” said Borthwick.
“I am very proud of that performance, very proud of the effort of each player today.
“But, we will review it and look at what needs improving - we won’t be getting carried away with the result.
“It’s the same every game; we don’t get carried away when we win, we don’t get carried away when we lose.
“That try at the end is an example of something that is not good enough, no matter whether we are ahead or not.”
Up next is a midweek Premiership Rugby Cup match, which is all that is on the mind of Borthwick - despite questions about the “unknown” of what is to come in the next month in the league.
“There is a little bit of unknown ahead, yes, but that is not for us to be thinking about,” said the Tigers Head Coach.
“We know what our next game is, we have a Premiership Rugby Cup match at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Wednesday night.
“That is the focus now for the club; preparing for that next match and that’s all we are focused on.”
Borthwick will name the matchday squad for Wednesday evening’s Premiership Rugby Cup fixture at midday on Tuesday, October 18.
