Dan Cole, George Chuter, Geoff Parling and Ben Youngs all faced the Haka when they lined up for England against the Maori All Blacks on the 2010 summer tour to Australia and New Zealand, a game to help mark the hosts’ centenary celebrations.
“The Haka is one of the big traditions in rugby and for supporters to be able to see it at Welford Road is a rarity,” said Chuter. “Leicester fans appreciate tradition in the game and it is going to be fantastic for our fans to see it at Welford Road.”
Youngs, who kicked 17 points in Tigers’ 22-17 win over South Africa in 2009, said: “To see the Haka live, or to stand in front of it is really special.
“It will be a great occasion, like all of the international games we have had recently, and to have the Haka performed at Welford Road promises to be special. The crowd will love it.
“The Maori All Blacks will come here with a huge amount of pride and passion. They are representing not just themselves but every Maori back home in New Zealand.
“Hopefully it will be talked about for many years to come.”
Cole said: “They are skilful players and they like to play hard. There have been a lot of big names who have played for the Maori and a lot of players who have gone on to play for the All Blacks.
“It will be an excellent game and if you haven’t seen the Haka before it will be a real occasion.”
And Parling added: “I really enjoy the Haka. It is a great tradition and a great spectacle.
“They are coming to a traditional rugby ground, which they will enjoy playing at, and it should be a cracking game.”
