The funeral of former Leicester Tigers team secretary Tudor Thomas will be held in his home village of Cosby in Leicestershire.
A service will be held at the Church of St Michael and All Angels in Cosby on Friday, June 22 at 11am. After the service, there will be a chance to toast Tudor at the Bull’s Head pub in the village.
His wife Barbara and son John have thanked the Tigers Family for their messages and support.
John said: “We have been overwhelmed by the best wishes from the Tigers Family. It has been a huge stream of support, good wishes and fond memories, which have come from all over.
“We have had cards, flowers and messages on social media. So many ex-players have been in touch. It has been very special and has really helped.”
Tudor gave half a century of support to the Tigers after moving to Leicester in the 1960s from his native Wales. He spent two decades as team secretary and also served as president and honorary secretary before receiving life member status in 2007.
His family do not expect black to be worn at the funeral. They have requested family flowers only, with anyone wishing to make a donation asked to give to Hope House children’s hospice.
