Leicester Tigers won their second tournament in two weekends with victory at the inaugural WR5s Nationals competition.

The tournament, created and organised by GB Wheelchair Rugby, featured two competitions: the cup and the shield.

Leicester competed in the cup competition, which saw two groups of three teams face one another before a semi-final and final; Tigers won all four matches to claim victory, an unbeaten run in 5's competitions now stretching across 41 straight competitive matches.

The weekend got off to a bright start, as Leicester defeated local rivals Northampton Saints by a decisive 19 point margin.

From there, Tigers continued to record strong points totals, recording 56 points in their victory over Solent Sharks to close out Saturday's matches.

On the final day of action, Tigers had their closest match of the weekend but still recorded a strong win over North East Barbarians, before the day's final saw Leicester continue their free scoring form, bagging 56 points as they beat Penrith Pumas to claim the trophy.

Laurence Ball won his 50th cap for the team at the weekend, while three Leicester players were awarded 'Best In Class' at the event: Jack Coulson (0.5), Karl Major (2.0) and Joe Smith (3.0). Captain Tom Folwell was awarded the team's internal MVP.

The win comes immediately after triumphing in Poland at the European Championships and marks an unbeaten 2024 treble, following victory in the WR5s Premiership in June.
