Ambassadors confirmed for Leicester Tigers Foundation

The Leicester Tigers Foundation has confirmed their ambassadors for the 2024/25 season, including a new addition to the role from the club's women's squad.

USA international Keia Mae Sagapolu Sanele joins Ollie Chessum and Tom Folwell in the roles, with the latter duo continuing for a second season after being appointed during the 23/24 campaign.

The Leicester Tigers Foundation is a driving force for positive change across the East Midlands and beyond, helping people of all ages through a number of programmes across schools, at Mattioli Woods Welford Road and beyond.

Their programmes range from the likes of AAA Active, which helps boost cardiovascular health, Hitz and SEND programmes, which help provide further opportunities to youngsters, and a Down Syndrome Rugby programme, which gives inclusive sessions to those of all ages. Sagapolu Sanele became involved with the Foundation's work over the summer, having volunteered to help with the club's Down Syndrome Rugby programme.

On becoming an ambassador, the American Test player said: "Not only do I get to be more involved with the local community in Leicester, it also allows me to build an amazing relationship with the families as well."

"My work with the Leicester Tigers Foundation has been so valuable, especially with the DS rugby team. Being able to see the players laughing and enjoying themselves, it really does make your day."

Sagapolu Sanele replaces Ofure Ugiagbe, who retired from rugby at the end of the club's debut campaign as part of Premiership Women's Rugby.

Chessum, now in his fourth senior season with the club, joined Tigers from Championship club Nottingham Rugby and has since gone on to become a regular feature for not only club but also country. Earlier this season, he also captained Leicester for the first time.

Folwell, meanwhile, recently won his 50th cap for the club as he captained Leicester Tigers to glory in the Wheelchair Rugby European Championships. Having previously won gold at the Invictus Games, Folwell was crowned Player of the Year in the 2022/23 season.

Speaking about the new-look trio of ambassadors, Leicester Tigers Foundation CEO Sam Swift, said: "Everyone at the Foundation is excited to once again have ambassadors who proudly represent their respective Leicester Tigers teams."

"These positions are vital in ensuring the continuity between the club and the foundation, ensuring we can all support a shared vision of helping the wider community across Leicester and beyond."
