Leicester Tigers have agreed terms with Shalva Mamukashvili, allowing the front-rower an early release from his contract with the club.

The Georgia international joined Tigers in the summer of 2020, during the COVID-19 enforced suspension of the 2019/20 season, and made his debut away to Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate in the restart period of the campaign.

Mamukashvili has made 79 international appearances for The Lelos, including five since joining Tigers, and will depart the club this week to return home to Georgia.

Speaking about the release agreement, head coach Steve Borthwick said: "We wish Shalva all the best in his next chapter and thank him for his efforts in a short stay at Leicester Tigers.

"For reasons outside of and in our control, we are re-shaping this squad and will continue to do so as we move forward on this journey.

"We have been open and up-front about those necessary changes and are confident in the group we are building at Leicester Tigers to represent the club, our supporters and community into the future."

Mamukashvili leaves the club effective immediately and will play no further part in the 2020/21 season.
