Leicester Tigers scrum-half Youngs created the opening score for wing David Strettle with a blindside break as Saxons recorded a 17-13 victory at The Recreation Ground in Bath. Fly-half Shane Geraghty was the other Saxons try-scorer.
Named in the starting line-up on his Saxons debut, Youngs was up against experienced Munster scrum-half Peter Stringer in an entertaining contest in the West Country watched by senior England team manager Martin Johnson.
Second row Parling made his Saxons debut just before the hour mark, moments before Youngs was replaced by Newcastle scrum-half Micky Young.
Ireland’s side included the experience of Stringer, Marcus Horan, Rory Best and Mick O’Driscoll, as well as former Leicester Tigers duo Shane Jennings and replacement Ian Humphreys.
