England’s most capped player ever and World Cup winner Jason Leonard will be joining Tigers legend Martin Johnson at the club’s Rugby World Cup Preview Dinner at Welford Road on Tuesday, March 5.
Leonard holds the record for the most England caps wearing the Red Rose on 114 occasions. Throughout his international career, the Saracens and Harlequins prop won four Grand Slams (1991, 1992, 1995 and 2003), one World Cup and was a part of three British Lions tours.
The rugby legend will join England’s World Cup winning captain Martin Johnson alongside current Tigers players and internationals as we look forward the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan this September.
Sponsored by club partner Total Motion, the evening will include three Q&A sessions with a mix of players from the northern and southern hemispheres before we hear from England’s World Cup winning stars.
Following on from the success of last year’s 125 Year Dinner – which welcomed back Tigers legends to celebrate 125 years of Welford Road - guests will also be treated to a three-course meal.
England will take on France, Argentina, USA and Tonga in Pool C when the action kicks off in Japan with Ireland and Scotland drawn together alongside Russia, Samoa and hosts Japan.
Wales face Australia, Georgia, Fiji and Uruguay in Pool D with reigning world champions New Zealand up against South Africa, Italy and Namibia in Pool B.
Places to the event cost £115 + VAT per person with the option to book a Player’s Table which includes 10 places alongside a current Tigers player for £1,500 + VAT.
