Leicester Tigers are saddened to hear of the passing of former player Nick Drake-Lee, aged 78.
A prop who arrived from an unbeaten Cambridge University team with club captain Mike Wade, he made his Leicester debut in January 1962 and made a total of 72 first-team appearances, scoring seven tries, up to the end of the 1964/65 season before returning to play one more game in November 1968.
Nick played for the East Midlands against the All Blacks at Welford Road and captained Tigers during the opening weeks of the 1964/65 season but left at the end of the season when work took him to Manchester.
He won the first of eight caps in 1963 in what was to be England’s last win over Wales in Cardiff for 28 years and played in all four games as England won the Championship that season.
Nick regularly attended Past Players lunches at the club with the Droglites and his son, Bill, maintained the family's links with Leicester, making 85 first-team appearances as a back row during the 1990s.
Tigers send condolences to all family and friends at this time.
