They lifted the silverware after beating Oakham 21-5 in the final at Welford Road, which was played after Tigers’ pre-season friendly win over Lyon.
As part of their prize, Oadby Wyggs have also been invited to attend the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series Final in 2012.
Oadby Wyggs qualified for the final after winning all three Pool A games earlier in the day at Tigers’ Oval Park training ground. Oakham won two and drew one of their Pool B games.
“It was a day full of fast-running, thrilling rugby,” says Scott Clarke, Tigers Academy manager. “Congratulations to all eight squads and we hope they enjoyed their day and playing on the Welford Road pitch.”
The plate competition was won by Leicester Forest, who beat Market Rasen 24-5 and finished the competition unbeaten after two wins and a draw in their pool games.
Burton on Trent beat North Walsham 24-17 to lift the Tigers Ball Trophy while the Tigers Player Trophy was won by Lutterworth after a 38-7 victory over Wymondham.
The J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Cup is a prestigious 7s festival for under 14s at grassroots clubs, taking place at the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs.
It is the first time the Premiership Rugby clubs have been involved in hosting junior 7s festivals and is giving valuable experience to youngsters, helping in their rugby development and working towards developing the stars of the future.
